This is a very rare etching by Jackson Simpson using his pseudonym J McArdle. We will provide written confirmation of this.
We specialise in the works of Jackson Simpson and this is the only image we are aware of by Jackson Simpson of Fraserburgh. It is a very finely executed etching showing the artist at his best.
It is framed to full conservation standard in the traditional black frame used for etchings.
The image size is 5.5*7.25 inches.
It has written on it No 10 which presumably means the number of the etching. It is unusual to find any numbrer on a Jackson Simpson etching but the earler the number the crisper the image will be.
It was originally sold for £1 and 1 shilling by Stewart Y Bruce and Co, 9 Panmure Street, Dundee. As usual with JS there is no date - unless anyone knows when this firm were trading in Dundee.
