THAT LUCKY OLD SUN first appeared as a live performance commissioned by the Royal
Festival Hall, London, in 2007. A year later the work was developed in the studio and the
result was Brian’s first new full-length album in many years. As he prepares to tour Europe
and North America, this fine art boxed set by Brian Wilson and Sir Peter Blake draws its
inspiration from the music of That Lucky Old Sun, a moving tribute to Southern California
and a celebration of Brian’s life and career.
The new limited edition includes:
12 ORIGINAL PRINTS CREATED BY PETER BLAKE
A series of collages produced by Sir Peter as numbered, fine art serigraphs. Screened in over
20 individual colours on to 312mm x 416mm (12.5 x 16.5 inches), 410 gsm art paper. Peter says,
‘This artwork is about Brian looking at somewhere like Venice Beach, for instance. It’s Brian’s
California, which I’m very happy to make visual.’
CLOTH BOUND BOOK
Signed by both authors, Brian and Peter’s hand-numbered book speaks about the music and
inspirations of That Lucky Old Sun. ‘It’s a spiritual record,’ Brian writes, ‘it’s about trying to
make the best of your life.’ The book also includes an historical essay and brand new extensive
interviews with Brian by noted music journalist and author Harvey Kubernik, in which Brian speaks
in detail about his life and work.
MIDNIGHT’S ANOTHER DAY
Brian’s hand-written sheet music and lyrics to the new track, ‘Midnight’s Another Day’, are
reproduced here in facsimile.
